Dodge Rolls latest, House of the Gundead, belongs in arcades, sure. To date, I have dedicated more than 1500 hours and completed over 200 tasks and features. Devolver is releasing a new light gun shooter into arcades but what we really need is a home port. My primary responsibilities in this project include software engineering and quality assurance. This arcade light-gun dungeon crawl experience is the latest installment in the Enter the Gungeon series.
In November 2021, I joined Griffin Aerotech, in collaboration with Dodge Roll and Devolver, as a contractor to assist in the completion of their ongoing project, Enter the Gungeon - House of the Gundead. Thanks to House of the Gundead's cutting edge Sinden Lightguns, which feature bone-shaking weapon-based haptic feedbacknot to mention a powerful 2.1 sound system with a dedicated subwoofer in the cabinetyou feel every shot when you squeeze the trigger. (Game preview content shows Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead as a whole and are not entirely representative of my specific contributions) The spin-off game, Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead, sees you fighting your way through a series of procedurally generated pixel art floors filled with enemies from the Cult of the Gundead. House of the Gundead brings rapid-fire action, beautiful pixel art, unpredictable levels, and adorably deadly characters of smash-hit dungeon crawler Enter the Gungeon to the arcades Yeah, that’s right: Devolver is making an actual arcade game.
